The St. Augustine Humane Society

The St. Augustine Humane Society promotes responsible pet ownership and strengthens the human-animal bond through education and training; works to

reduce the relinquishment rate of pets to shelters through assistance services and through effective, affordable spay and neuter efforts; and is a resource center for the citizens and animals of St. Johns County, Florida.

St. Augustine Eco Tours

The hyper-fertile estuaries of northeast Florida are home to populations of resident and migratory Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins. The abundance of these populations has not been studied and St. Augustine Eco Tours began the first population study in May of 2006.

The behaviors and habits of these inshore dolphins are different than the Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins which spend their entire lives in the ocean just miles away. Viewing dolphins and their behavior in the wild is an experience that most people find fascinating. Please know that on excursions with St. Augustine Eco Tours your guides will remain at the proper distance for responsible dolphin viewing so not to interfere with natural behaviors. The dolphins will thank you.

We have been in business for the past 37 years. Welcoming travelers, locals, and groups to partake in a long history of a well valued meal, service with a smile, and a sense of history with an understanding of the significance of the location of The Spanish Bakery.

Gene & Julie are now walking the road Dewey & Marge walked, keeping tradition alive and well.

The Spanish Bakery is tucked away in an out of the way garden in the middle of St. Augustine Downtown Historic district right off St. George St. It wont be hard to find if you follow the sweet smell of freshly baked bread coming out of the stone hearth oven every half hour or so, not to mention the empanadas, or the spicy sausage wrapped in a flaky golden crust. That’s not all you’ll find, we have all sorts of delicious food for lunch and healthy snacks.

Gene Adelsperger whose parents (Dewey and Marge) started the business about 25 years ago is the certified chef who lights up the ovens every day around 3 o’clock AM. Getting what is known in this community as, the best baked food in town ready for the many friends who’ll stop buy for lunch or just to buy a couple of loafs of bread to take home.

Serving up the same traditional Spanish food that people have loved for years. So stop in and have a empanada or a bowl of Picadillo with a freshly baked roll, and if you see Marge ask her about the history of the Oldest City in the US, she’s a golden source for the history and traditions of St. Augustine.
